I have learned that a great amount of effort and expertise is required to plan and execute research. The end result, however, is very rewarding!

Working with Dr. Barron-Gafford’s team helps me think like an engineer. By working with the team, I established the confidence to solve practical problems. Now, I am trying to solve them economically and efficiently.

AII that I have learned over this short period has expedited my growth as an individual, continuing to shape my career and future. As a part of a team, it has been an amazing  experience for me; In the end it leaves me with these words: If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go, far, go together."

I really enjoyed both my time in the office, and my time on site. It was a good experience to see how project requires both paperwork and planning, along with execution and improvising.

I’ve learned invaluable engineering skills throughout this internship relevant to my studies in mechanical and software engineering. I feel inspired and prepared to pursue a career in the renewable energy field. 

Working beside engineering managers has taught me the immense knowledge, energy, and passion it takes to run a company. Through this internship with Sounder Solutions I learned how to apply mass data analytics in a root cause analysis to solve discrepancies in PV energy production.

Learning from many different people with unique backgrounds and experiences has taught me the importance of collaboration in research.

Being part of a university research group allowed me to understand the vital usefulness of documenting every step of the research process to avoid unnecessary misinterpretations.

If there is sun, you could cook it. This was our mantra throughout the internship.

I was able to learn what it takes to solar cook things. I also got experience on outreaching with people to discuss the benefits of solar.

I got first hand experience communicating my mentors’ desired designs, determining what was achievable, and producing prototypes until a final product was created. Therefore undergoing the engineering process.

I found that the ability to rely on the curiosity, skills, and effort of my teammates and mentor not only benefited me when learning about additive manufacturing and other technologies but also improved my ability to work with others.
