The Solar Store Internship

The Solar Store is a full-service supplier of solar products and services.  We provide solar hot water, solar pool heating, solar electric as well as other environmental sensitive or energy efficient products.

As an electrical and plumbing contractor licensed for both commercial and residential work, we have installed over 9,000 solar systems in southern Arizona and southwest New Mexico since our inception in 1998. 

Team 1: Solar Install Analytics Team

This team would design and conduct an Installation Time Study to verify labor hour estimates for various aspects of the installation. This would including study design, being on the roof during installations, creating training videos from footage you take during installations, and presenting findings to the Solar Store.

Key Internship Requirements:

  • Ability to work outside for extended periods of time
  • Flexible work schedule  - including a variable start time (from 5am to 8am)
  • Work with diverse teams and teams
  • Ability to work on a roof 
  • Ability to climb a 24 foot ladder
  • Experience using Excel to collect and manage data

Preferred Experience:

  • Understand data collection and data integrity including timing protocols
  • Experience working on job site with multiple trades
  • Have own transportation
  • Experience with video creation and editing (to create training videos)

Solar Store Team 2: Process Efficiencies Team

This team will evaluate current contract to job start process with a focus on evaluation of efficiency alternatives. This team will have unique opportunities to learn about the software and processes used in the approval process for solar installations.

Key Internship Requirements

  • Experience with data entry
  • Experience building processes with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience working with/in sales teams

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of or interest in learning Scoop Solar (software used by Solar store)
  • Knowledge of or interest in learning internal processes of working with utilities and others needed for approval of residential and commercial solar installations
  • Experience in reviewing multiple processes to streamline and clarify best paths
  • Experience with or interest in learning Powerclerk (software used by utilities)
